The famous Vogue editor who was the inspiration for the best selling book “The Devil Wears Prada” is breaking her silence. Anna Wintour will be appearing in this Sunday’s episode of <font size=”7”>60 Minutes for a sit down interview. The fashion editor, who RARELY does interviews of any type, will be dishing on a vairety of topics. Anna even reveals why she’s always seen in sunglasses! I can’t wait to hear what the queen of fashion couture has to say. This interview may help give the Vogue editor some personality. Can’t wait…

Dress Like Blair and Serena

Target has teamed up with fashion designer Anna Sui to create a line of clothing inspired by Gossip Girl! Anna Sui is known for her urban, chic clothing style that are supposed favorites of the Gossip Girl cast. Anna’s Gossip Girl inspired line is set to hit Target stores September 13th - just in time for the new school year.

Gossip Girl Cast

It’s really exciting when talented designers team up with department stores to create affordable labels. Fashion shouldn’t be sacrificed because of pricing. Hopefully, the line will feature pieces inspired by all three characters: Blair, Serena, AND Jenny. Let’s leave Vanessa’s misguided bohemian look off the Target racks. The only downside is now we have to wait 4 months before we can see the line! XOXO

Horrendous Preppy Trends

There are certain preppy trends that probably get started by bored housewives vacationing in Martha’s Vineyard that should never leave the island. However, time after time these trends infiltrate into every suburban town. Every day I see people on the T, in the elevator, and walking the streets infected with pastel and floral disasters.

5. Long Champ Le Pliage Bags

Le Pliage

These bags are the most simple, uninspired purses that have sweep the upper middle class. Constructed of mostly canvas with leather trimming these bags can cost as much as $145! Like crack to an addict, these bags come in the full spectrum of vibrant colors, so every sorority girl can feel they are being unique.

4. Vera Bradly Bags

Vera Bradley Bag

These “diaper bags” come in a variety of shapes perfect for all preppy occasions any event planner could conjure up. Vera Bradley bags are not only widely over priced, but are are vastly over printed. Similar to Beanie Babies, these quilted bags are continusously discontinuing patterns to keep soccer moms coming back to their dealer.

3. Anything Lily Pultizer

Lily Pultizer is practically a uniform on Martha’s Vineyard. Every item from Lily Pulitzier is bright and colorful. Pulitizer lets mommy and child dress in same prints and color schemes. How cute?!

2. Printed Ties from Vineyard Vines

Vineyard Vine Tie

These loudly printed ties come in a wide range of novelty themes and colors.  Men’s ties from Vineyard Vines range from $75 - $85! Can you believe that? This is probably every father’s nightmare present.

1. Crocs, Crocs, Crocs

Crocs Ugly

My disdain for these shoes cannot be expressed. I know people love these shoes because the are “sooo comfortable”, but when does comfort mean we have to sacrifice style. Everything about these shoes are practical - which was probably why suburban moms took to them like a moth to a flame. These shoes are recyclable, ergonomic, odor resistant, blah, blah, blah. These shoes are U-G-L-Y. I can maybe accept people wearing them while doing outdoor activities like canoeing or hiking. However, that is rarely how I have seen them. People wear them as everyday shoes, with nice outfits! Crocs are like headlights on people feet, drawing attention with their oversizing and bright colors.

Sex and the City The Movie: Studded Belt

I recently re-watched the Sex and the City movie, having not seen it since its opening night. Watching the movie in the privacy of my own home - without the annoyance of exaggerated audience reactions, laughs, and clapping - I found myself paying closer attention to ALL the fashion detailing. There are several key pieces that Carrie fashions throughout the movie that I absofuckinlutely love. My favorite pieces is the black studded belt.

Carrie’s belt is wrapped around almost every dress Sara Jessica Parker sports in the movie. I’m typically not a huge fan of studded belts, but paired with the right dress it can transform a classic dress into rocker chic.

Studded Belt

This belt retails for $120 and if you can find enough outfits to “merchandise” up like Carrie, than the price is a steal! The belt is created by Patricia Field and is designed to be work around the small of your waist. That is an important note to remember when ordering the perfect size for you. I’ve made the mistake of purchasing a belt like this using measurements for my hip. I had to manually puncture holes into the leather using only house scissors. Not any easy task.

Chic and Cheap!

While we all scramble to save money during these tough economic times, here are a few simple ways you can save a lot of money on your beauty products.

1. Save money on Eye Make Up Remover - Instead of spending lots of money on expensive eye make up removers that come in tiny bottles, use baby oil!! Its much cheaper and it comes in much larger bottle. Bonus! It keeps your eyes silky smooth. I’ve also noticed that when I remove my eye make up with baby oil the night before, after the shower the next day my mascara goes on much easier and has great length!

2. Save money on acne medication. Instead of spending tens of dollars on acne potions, you can find a quick and cheap solution in your refregator. Egg whites are a great cure for acne. Simple tab some egg whits on a cotton ball and pat on acne after your daily face wash.

Save Money

3. Use conditioner for shaving cream! It will soften the hair making it easier to shave and moisten your skin at the same time. If you refuse to switch over, try using buying men’s shaving cream, they are a few dollars cheaper!

Swagger Like Him

Men have very few exciting accessories to play with, so when something comes along that can instantly add style to their outfits, they should all be sporting them. The male scarf isn’t limited to just winter wear anymore. The male scarf is popping up in almost every style genre there is. From hip-hop to traditional, men are pairing scarves with just amount any type of outfit. Lil Wayne has transformed the usual hip hop uniform into stylish suit.

Justin Timberlake brought back the silk scarf, pairing it with a tailor fitted gentlemen’s suit on his last album. The silk scarf both modernizes and eternalizes his suit.

Be a man, wear a scarf!

Scarves can range in prices dramatically, from $15 to over $300. Depending on how committed you are to this fad, or how soft you want your scarf to be, will determine your invest in the right one for you. These stores have a great selection of male scarves.
